Stanley Kim, BVSc, received an Honorable Mention in the competition for the Resident Publication Award at the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) Symposium, held in Washington, D.C. during October 8-10, 2009. His publication is entitled "Effect Tibial Tuberosity Advancement on Femorotibial Contact Mechanics and Stifle Kinematics." Kelley Thieman, DVM, received 2nd Place in the competition for the Podium Presentation Award at the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) Symposium, held in Washington, D.C. during October 8-10, 2009. Her publication is entitled "The Contact Mechanics of Meniscal Repairs and Partial Meniscectomy as Treatment for Simulated Bucket Handle Medial Meniscal Tears in Cadaveric Dog Stifles." |

The new Comparative Orthopaedics Biomechanics Lab was featured in the August 2008 edition of The Florida Horse magazine. The article discussus how the COB Lab is helping analyze the factors that cause animal arthritis, learning ways to prevent it, and develop better treatment methods for those animals afflicted with arthritis. What: The Grand Opening of the Comparative Orthopaedics Biomechanics Laboratory Location: 2015 SW 16th Avenue in Gainesville, FL When: Wednesday, September 10, 2008; 7pm The new Comparative Orthopaedics Biomechanics Lab, a collaboration between the College of Medicine and the College of Veterinary Medicine, is located in the Veterinary Medicine Academic Building. Researchers from the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences are looking to conduct research in the areas of joint mechanics, prosthetic devices, orthopaedic implants and reparative methods for musculoskeletal trauma. |
